Our user research confirmed that the emotional desire for a beautiful smile is a far stronger motivator than oral hygiene alone. By integrating an AI-powered smile preview generator, we tapped into this desire, leading to a significant increase in lead conversions. Over three months, this flow generated 800 leads, with an impressive 50% conversion to paying customers, demonstrating the high intent triggered by this emotionally-driven approach.

My Role

My role was of a product designer, where i collated the marketing research & built a flow by managing the limitations of the current AI’s capability, getting stake holder alignment and building the final design requirements

Honesty Builds Trust, overcoming AI Accuracy Gaps in Smile Design

Despite the AI's 90% accuracy rate, some generated previews were unusable. We addressed this transparently with users, offering complimentary consultations as an alternative path. This honesty resonated, as 40% of those who encountered this limitation still opted for consultations, demonstrating their commitment to smile correction.

We Made Back Camera Selfies Easy and Accurate

We faced an issue with unacceptable preview accuracy using the phone's front camera. To solve this, we enabled users to take selfies with the superior back camera. After three rounds of usability testing, all 10 participants successfully completed the task, and 80% achieved accurate image capture. Illustrated guidance and bulleted instructions were key factors in improving user efficiency and accuracy.

Experimenting conversions with sticky action

We're testing a bottom sticky action on the smile preview page to increase user feedback submission. Our data shows that users who provide feedback are more likely to become paid customers, and their input directly improves our AI accuracy. This experiment aims to enhance both customer conversion and AI performance.

Designs

Banner

The messaging on the banner connected with the users, making them very keen to understand the end results for them. On the home page we had 12% click rate while on the testimonial detail page we had a 30% click rate.

Conclusion

This case study demonstrates the power of combining emotional motivators, AI technology, and user-centred design to achieve impressive results. By tapping into users' desire for a beautiful smile, we achieved a 50% conversion rate. Key learnings include the importance of understanding user psychology and the value of iterative testing. Furthermore, addressing technological limitations with honesty builds user trust and contributes to long-term product success. Our ongoing experiments aim to further enhance the user experience and optimise AI capabilities for even greater conversion rates
